Ice Facials: Possibly The Best Beauty Secret Ever
What’s cooler than being cool? Ice cold!
I’ve recently come to discover the magic of the ice facial. I wish I had discovered this glorious and chilly beauty secret years ago. The benefits of dunking your face into a bowl of cold ice water are practically unbelievable! Supermodels even swear by it. It basically addresses almost every skin ailment a person can have! And the best part? It’s free! I’m fairly certain that the ice facial is where the saying “the best things in life are free” came from. I’ve spent my fair share of money on expensive creams and serums that don’t work as well as this free beauty treatment!
I’ve battled a red and uneven skin tone, acne, and large pores on my cheeks since I was a teenager. More recently, I’ve added fine lines to my list of skin annoyances.
Why ice facials need to be part of your morning routine
I’ve made the morning ice facial a part of my daily routine you should, too. Here’s why:
Tightening of the skin and pores
My pores are basically the bane of my existence, but a simple ice facial helped solve that problem within seconds. Seriously, they’ve never looked so small. And it’s not just pores that are tightened, it’s your whole face. Talk about a cheap face lift for tired looking skin!
Makeup primer
Due to the overall tightening of the pores and skin, your face is left smoother than ever before! A smooth canvas is exactly what is needed for flawless makeup, which makes ice facials an excellent makeup primer! Not only that, but the tighter pores secrete less oil, which means your makeup will stay looking good longer.
Acne prevention and treatment
Ice facials reduce the amount of oil your skin produces and also reduces inflammation of developing acne so the blemishes that are starting to pop up won’t get out of control. You can also treat existing blemishes with an ice cube (wrapped in a paper towel or soft, thin washcloth) held directly on the spot for a couple of minutes.
Wrinkle reduction and prevention
Tighter skin = fewer fine lines and wrinkles. Plus, it is said that icing can also prevent new wrinkles from forming.
Reduce puffiness, dark circles, and facial redness
Exposing your skin to ice cold water increases circulation to reduce puffiness and helps eliminate the rainbow of frustrating colors on your face.
It wakes you up
I’m definitely not a morning person. Even coffee wasn’t enough to get me going sometimes. But plunging my face into an ice water bath really has done wonders for battling my morning fatigue.
Give yourself an ice facial
So, how does one give oneself an ice facial? I’m glad you asked. It’s simple and only takes 4 steps.
1. Cleanse your face as normal.
2. Fill up a large bowl with water and ice cubes.
3. Submerge your face into the ice bath 3 times for 10-30 seconds.
4. Pat your skin dry with a clean towel and proceed to your normal routine.
That’s all you have to do!
Even if you are traveling you can still give yourself an ice facial. Just use the ice bucket!
